BACHELOR’S BOUGHT BRIDE – Jennifer Lewis (King’s of the Boardroom)

Author: Jennifer Lewis
Line: Silhouette Desire
Release month: North America/UK: May 2010
The S-Factor:
Sexy

Back Blurb:

Quietly attractive, sweet natured…and filthy rich, Bree Kincannon was just the bride ad exec Gavin Spencer had been looking for. And Bree's father had secretly offered him a cool million to take her off his hands. With the chance to start his own agency, it took the bachelor no time to turn the heiress into his loving wife.

Yet it didn't take Bree long to discover the real reason behind Gavin's whirlwind courtship. And the bedroom door was slammed in his face…. Too late, he realized his feelings were very real. But could he convince his bought bride that his motives for marriage had changed?

Review♥♥♥♥♥

Bree Kincannon had always been sceptical of men because it only meant one thing, they were after her inheritance. She had been involved with a couple of men but most people found her dull and plain. So on the evening of a benefit she was attending with her father, she was blown away because a handsome advertising account executive paid attention to her, more than attention, he spent the evening with her dancing and getting to know her. Now three weeks later after dating and spending time with each other, Gavin Spencer takes it to the next level, they make love and then out of the blue, he proposes and sets up a wedding with only the two of them a few days later.

Gavin Spencer as a young man went against his military father and went in a career direction that he wanted, advertising. He was good at it and worked at one of the top firms. However, his goal and dream were to have his own firm, run his business his own way and when he was approached by a man who offered him one million dollars to court and marry his daughter, he agreed. What he didn’t count on is that this sweet woman would worm her way into his life and in a few short weeks he would enjoy her, make her his life partner and look forward to it, plus their passion was a bonus. He genuinely liked her, enjoyed being with her.

A few days after their wedding everything explodes for Bree as she hears her father’s voicemail to her new husband and learns of their deceit. However, she’s determined to get through it somehow, maybe make him fall in love with her? But for Gavin, being married gave him a “foundation”. However, he felt guilty for taking her father’s money but that was the only way he could start up his own business.

Bree was an excellent photographer and had won awards and had the opportunity to photograph a well known actor and her photos were good. Now her husband wanted her to photograph a new client of his, a well respected jeweler and she wanted the opportunity but she also wanted revenge.

So I wondered how the author would play out the revenge. Poor Bree considered herself a fool for loving Gavin. I knew Bree meant more to Gavin than the money, because in the end, the tables were turned and he actually loved and respected Bree! Could they find their way back? It would take this strong and proud alpha male to pull it off and he did it in ways one won’t believe. Because at the end of the day, Gavin truly loved Bree!

While reading this wonderful love story, I kept thinking of love at first sight and my own courtship and marriage. Can it happen? You bet, it did for me. So I could only hope while reading Bachelor’s Bought Bride that Bree and Gavin would get their happy ending as well. Of course they did and it was a beautiful ending thanks to Jennifer Lewis.

The very strong message from the author was where ever your love was it felt like home! Childhood memories didn’t mean a thing, because after meeting Gavin it was all about him, to be with him, to share everything. Could this really be real? In the end, it was about love, believing in your partner, forgiveness and understanding which made for an amazing romance.

When he approaches renowned investor Elliott Kincannon for money to fund his start up, the older man comes back with a bizarre yet intriguing proposition.

Life hasn’t been easy for Bree Kincannon, despite the millions she inherited on her mother’s death. Her father is cold and demanding, and thinks little of her dreams and achievements. He’d have preferred an empty-headed social butterfly, not a retiring photographer. She’d love to get married and have children, but dealing with money-hungry sharks, more interested in her fortune than in her, has soured her on men. Then Gavin comes along...

Yes, he'd once rejected her because she would not make a suitable bride. But surely Celia understood he could not deny his duty, and the lovely American could never give him an heir.

Or had she already done so?

Review: ♥♥♥♥

Jennifer Lewis charms and delights her readers with a tender love story in The Desert Prince. It’s set near the Arabian Sea in an ancient desert city with two strong and romantic lovers who had a past.

Salim Al Mansor is one handsome, honour-bound desert prince. He is the son that stayed in Salalah, Oman and was raised by a stern father to value his heritage and to marry the woman he chose for his son. Unlike his two other brothers who lived in North America, he obeys his father’s wishes. However, the marriage doesn’t work out because Salim can’t forget Celia Davidson, the woman he once loved while attending college in America. He broke her heart when he told her he was married and then four years ago he bumped into her again at a conference and they spent two wonderful days together. Again, he cut her loose breaking her heart.

Celia Davidson is an accomplished landscaper, a wonderful mother to a 4 year old daughter Kira who hasn’t divulged to the father that she exists. The very same father who has asked her to come to the desert and work on a hotel project with giving her an offer she can’t refuse. Can her heart survive? When will be the right time to tell the man who still affects her heart that he has a daughter?

From the moment they shake hands the sparks fly, their feelings ignite and it’s that way the entire time they spend together. However, in a way it’s a healing process for both of them because they discuss how much they loved each other in college, how much it hurt them both when Salim married, again how much Celia hurt when Salim sent her away a second time. It was also a time for Celia to get to know Salim’s brother and family as they were visiting. They as well could see how much this couple only had eyes for each other. The very first week they act on their feelings for each other; it’s explosive.

As with all stories there are hurdles…..Salim admits to his brother just as soon as he gets Celia out of his system he’s going to marry a suitable wife and produce heirs. And then Celia tells Salim they have a daughter together and he demands she bring Kira to meet him in Oman. Add to this the pressure his family put on him to marry Celia, Celia’s fear he’ll take their daughter away and the fact that the woman he later plans to marry shows up at the hotel job site.

The Desert Prince was such a joy to read. It was wonderful reading about all of the family, their interaction with each other, Salim and his brother Elan, his wife Sara and the children as well as Salim and his sweet daughter Kira and in the end when Salim realizes how much he loves, has always loved Celia…..an outstanding love story about second chances and a happy ending.

About the Book from Dear Reader:

"My first book, The Boss's Demand, told the story of the unfortunate but irresistible attraction between oil magnate Elan Al Mansur and his assistant Sara. Since it was published, I've received many e-mails asking whether there would be stories coming for Elan's brothers, who appear in the wedding at the end of the book.

I'm happy to say this is the story of one of those brothers. Salim Al Mansur, the dignified eldest in the family, never quite got over his college sweetheart Celia. Now he finds himself in dangerously close proximity as she designs the grounds for his newest hotel.

This book takes the reader to Elan and Salim's hometown of Salalah, Oman, an ancient coastal city looking out over the blue waters of the Arabian Sea. I had fun catching up with Elan and Sara while I wrote this book, and I hope you enjoy Salim and Celia's reunion romance."   Jen

THE MAVERICK’S VIRGIN MISTRESS (Texas Cattleman’s Club series)

The Maverick’s Virgin Mistress by author Jennifer Lewis is an impressive and spectacular addition to the Texas Cattleman’s series with sizzling passion and intrigue.

As the author states in her introduction, Alicia Montoya is a 26-year old virgin who has been raised in a convent and sheltered by her older brother Alex Montoya. She’s met a member of the famous Texas Cattleman’s Club, a very handsome and charming man by the name of Rick Jones who is hiding his true identity. A fire breaks out at El Diablo, her brother’s ranch and it presents the perfect opportunity for Alicia to explore her relationship with Rick, so she lies to her brother and seeks the protection of Rick at his hotel room for a few days. Yes her innocence is sweet but her attempt to change that status and how the author portrayed their joined passion was beautiful to read.

Rick Jones is actually Justin Dupree, a man known as a very rich shipping magnate, one that dates high profile women and goes by the alias because of the press. Women when they become aware of him usually will go to any lengths to become his next girlfriend due to his wealth. Alicia is a breath of fresh air and he wants to get to know her not as Justin but as Rick Jones. He decides to take it slow but Alicia has other ideas, she wants a relationship full of passion and I promise you Justin delivers and their romance begins immediately at his hotel and sizzles right off of the pages. It’s sweet, tender, romantic and full of passion. However, what was so special about this man as he took the time to get to know Alicia and was surprised by her passion for the town’s historical society to preserve Somerset and her occupation as the museum’s curator.

When I originally read the series years ago, there was always intrigue and this book is no exception. The fire set at Alicia’s ranch is under investigation for arson and Justin’s friends who have also suffered an arson fire think Alicia’s brother Alex is involved. However, there’s more, Alicia has talked about her brother to Justin and when she finds out through a friend he’s lied about who is actually is, then the fireworks begin.

Alicia is devested by the lies Justin has told her even though he was going to tell her who he was upon his return from a business trip. This man, who has not trusted, realizes what they’ve shared together is important plus her sweetness and caring personality makes him realize she’s the “real deal” and that he adores her. One is left to wonder if they can find happiness, forgiveness and will Alicia’s brother come to terms with her having a man in her life.
The Maverick’s Virgin Mistress was the “real deal”; it’s a love story that could happen anywhere in the world, a beautiful and emotional love story with a happy ending.

Book Description:

Texas Cattleman's Club member Justin Dupree has met the perfect woman…too bad their relationship is built on a lie.

Her life in danger, Alicia Montoya turned to the one man she thought she could trust. Her new boyfriend—a tall, dark Texan—offered her refuge in his posh penthouse. And she eagerly accepted his proposal of protection…

…until she discovered her lover's true identity: Justin Dupree, notorious playboy and her beloved brother's enemy. She had given her virginity to a man who had betrayed her. How could she possibly accept anything this maverick said as truth?

About the Series: The original series began in 1999 and ended in 2005 and then began again in 2009.

"Texas Cattleman’s Club - The bible or given guidelines for this series gives good description of the amenities of this fictious cattleman’s club. TCC is a 26 room converted mansion that includes a golf course, riding stables, spa, and an air-conditioned pool house. Inside, you’d find meeting rooms, a game room, library, formal dining room and cafĂ©. The cattleman’s club is exclusive to the wealthy millionaires in the Houston area". Author Charlene Sands

Who turns out to be Louis DuLac.
Louis never knew his father's identity. Now this trophy widow wants him to take a DNA test to prove—or disprove— that he is a Hardcastle. No problem—if Samantha agrees to spend another evening with him….
Review: ♥♥♥♥♥

This wonderful last book in Jennifer Lewis The Hardcastle Progeny series was a total and wonderful surprise. The Heir’s Scandalous Affair, book three in the series was nothing short of brilliant. Why you might ask? The answer is read my notes on “behind the book” and if you’ve read the first two then you would understand. And if not, just know the story centers around Tarrant Hardcastle whose dying wish was to find his illegitimate children before he died. Usually a representative was sent to retrieve the DNA and bring the son home. However, in this case his widow takes on the task.

Of course Tarrant dies and the family is forced to move on and Samantha sets out in the journey in finding the final son and bringing him home to the family. You’ll love Samantha, because her exterior is extremely beautiful but inside more so and she’s so vulnerable during her grieving time and to take on such a task only shows the reader how important and determined she is to unite the Hardcastle clan. When you learn of her upbringing and her past marriages you’ll immediately have a soft spot for her and only wish her happiness.

New Orleans, what a sensual and mysterious setting where the story begins and where Sam seeks out Tarrant’s long lost son the very charming, sexy, and kind man, Louis. Louis DuLac is wealthy by his own rights and owns restaurants all over the world but what will attract one is his depth and insight into life and character. Knowing who his father was is of not importance to Louis and of course due to his own wealth and for personal reasons he doesn’t need the money not does he wish to find out who his father was but he is definitely intrigued by Samantha and the fact that he has two step brothers.

Sam literally stumbles into a “lounge” one evening, is rescued, wined and dined and literally is swept off her feet. Then one thing leads to another and the world tilts. Luke immediately rescues her; they spend the night in each others arms. In the morning, she leaves and readies herself to find Tarrant’s missing son. When she knocks on the door, Luke answers and they both are floored.

For them both, it a rollercoaster ride; self discovery for Sam at Louis hand But what I loved about this beautiful man was how he made Sam realize how important she was to her family and to him. Their journey and getting there is the best part of the story, especially all of the turmoil which takes place when they both return to New York for Louis to meet the family and friends. The dynamics of the Hardcastle’s, how they end up unified and the chemistry which is so full of fire and passion in The Heir’s Scandalous Affair will be a love story long remembered.

Behind the book from the author:

“Young, beautiful women who marry rich, older men are often treated cruelly in the press. These 'trophy wives' seem to be objects of intense fascination and resentment, as evidenced by the ghoulish obsession with Anna Nicole Smith after the passing of her wealthy older husband.

The coverage of her life and tragic death made me wonder how it would feel to be subject to such envy and loathing. It sparked the idea for The Heir's Scandalous Affair, in which young widow Samantha Hardcastle has to find her way in the world after the death of her billionaire husband, Tarrant.

With the eyes and cameras of the world upon her, Sam finds herself falling in love with the one man she should stay far, far away from: her husband's illegitimate son. I hope you enjoy Sam and Louis's roller-coaster romance.”

Title: IN THE ARGENTINE’S BED
(The Hardcastle Progeny, Book 2)

Author: Jennifer Lewis

Line: Harlequin Silhouette Desire

Release month North America/UK: March 2009

The S-Factor: Sensual

Back-Blurb:

It was just one 'simple' mission—find out whether a winemaker in Argentina was a New York millionaire's long-lost son. But Susannah Clarke quickly learned Amado Alvarez played by his own rules. He'd give her the DNA sample she wanted—if she spent the night with him! And in a moment of madness, she'd given in, to his demand and to her own desire. Now she had to return to South America to face this compelling, sensuous man again—and to face the consequences of that one unforgotten, unforgettable night in a stranger's bed….

Review: ♥♥♥♥♥

In the Argentine’s Bed is the second book in The Hardcastle Progeny and for Amado Alvarez it’s a second chance at finding love but not an easy one for him. For both Amado and Susannah it’s also a lesson in learning to trust, about family and the true meaning of coming home.

Tarrant Hardcastle is NOT a nice man. He’s a millionaire several times over and he owns a Manhattan retail empire Hardcastle Enterprises. He is also just holding onto life by a mere thread and it’s his goal to track down the illegitimate sons he once denounced.

Susannah Clarke has been given the assignment of getting a DNA sample from the handsome and sexy Argentine vintner Amado Alvarez. What neither of them counts on is their immediate attraction and how they immediately enter into a relationship. Amado is definitely one attractive man with an incredible heart. He loves his family, his grapes and his winery and he has no knowledge that Tarrant Hardcastle is his father until he meets Susannah. When he learns about Tarrant, his relationship with his family and the secrets they’ve been keeping almost rip the family apart.

Susannah is not only beautiful she’s very successful as a wine buyer and well thought of at Hardcastle. She loves her work and all of the travel it involves. As a child, she moved from country to country as her parents were missionaries and she doesn’t know the meaning of “home” but she gets a taste of it with Amado and the Alvarez’s. What tugged at my heart was that Susannah really never new the true meaning of home until she met Amado. She was always on the outside looking in, always moving and never belonging until she met him.

In the Argentine’s Bed is a stand alone book and one you won’t want to miss. Tarrant Hardcastle, his wife, daughter and his long lost sons are an exceedingly pleasing series and I honestly can’t wait to read the last book, The Heir’s Scandalous Affair.

Fresh Fiction Interview:
“In the first two books I had to keep a delicate balance between showing Tarrant’s growth as a human being, and keeping his cold, calculating edge, because I knew he was going to die by the third book. He’s already terminally ill in the first book, so it’s no surprise, but I didn’t want readers to be so attached to him that they’d be upset when he finally met his maker. I hope I managed to make Tarrant endearing enough to be sympathetic, but not so adorable that you’ll be furious with me for killing him off!” J Lewis

Everything about Dominic set off alarms in Bella's head. For he had the power to destroy her plans. Maybe some intense overtime with Mr. Tall, Dark and Dangerous was needed. Suddenly her scheme didn't seem so simple…or her heart so safe.…

Review: ♥♥♥♥♥

Millionaire’s Secret Seduction is the first book in author Jennifer Lewis’s The Hardcastle Progeny. One learns that the ruthless millionaire Tarrant Hardcastle is dying and has found one of his illegitimate children, Dominic DiBari. The same son he denied he fathered and now recognizes and wants to head up his corporation. Tarrant has a reputation being a womanizer and for only hiring “beautiful people”. Now he’s determined that his long lost son will take over the helm.

Dominic is an incredibly handsome and self made millionaire coming up the hard way, with hard work and shear determination and owns a chain of food stores very similar to Trader Joes (more than a grocery store with its shelves stocked also with exotic foods and items). He is also more than just a handsome man; he’s a man of honour but struggles with his feelings for his newfound father.

Bella Andrews is the head chemist at Hardcastle Enterprises and she’s on a mission to prove that Tarrant Hardcastle stole her father’s formulas and she’s going to expose and sue him. She is also an honour bound woman with a deep feeling for her mother who has been destroyed not only by the loss of her husband but also agonizes over loosing her home and feels Hardcastle is responsible. Bella’s mother wants to get back what she feels is rightfully theirs and is counting on Bella to prove they were cheated.

When Dominic explores his father’s company he bumps into the natural beauty, Bella and appreciates her looks, intelligence and sass. So much so, he’s determined to get to know her professionally and physically. However, he also realizes she has something to hide when he catches her going through Hardcastle files.

As the story unfolds, Bella tells Dominic about her father and her plans and he promises to give her sometime but he wants to make a deal. What will the deal cost each of them? He follows her and keeps an eye on her at every turn and in the end reveals to his father Bella’s plan. However, keeping his hands off of her is a problem and there is a scene in a copy room you won’t want to miss.

This is not just another sizzling love story, it’s about honour, family, values, trust and forgiveness. The story takes place in the cosmetic and fashion industry and is set in New York. Dominic and Bella’s journey is full of passion, is explosive, very powerful and was beautiful to read. This three book series is going to be wonderful and The Millionaire’s Secret Seduction just wet my appetite. In March, the second book will be released, In the Argentine’s Bed and in April The Heir’s Scandalous Affair.

Ermine and jewels in his sun-drenched palace…sensual pleasures beyond her wildest fantasies. But when the two weeks' notice is up, the prince discovers his plan has backfired. He's fallen for a woman he can never marry.…

Review: ♥♥♥♥♥

Jennifer Lewis’s writing style and the way she describes her characters and their places of travel absolutely makes one believe they are there and living and experiencing it along with them.

I personally loved Tessa Banks the personal assistant to Prince Sebastian Stone of Caspia. She was efficient, lovely, and talented plus she adored her boss for years. She cared for him so much so that she realizes she must leave his employ and move on because she can no longer watch him dating models and starlets. She wants a future with someone who will love her for who she is, not taking advantage of her organizational skills. So upon the Prince’s return to New York she hands in her resignation notice.

Tessa leaving him? No way will he allow nor stand for it! This rugged and handsome Prince is used to having his way and his business is in financial trouble. He needs his efficient PA to help him overturn and make it a success. Prince Sebastian comes up with a plan, he entices Tessa to accompany him to Caspia and dangles a few suggestions……travel to a beautiful seaside city to rest, relax and help him to set up meetings with the principals of the luxury designers who make up Caspian Designs.

Sebastian charms her with sightseeing trips, horseback riding, balls and lovemaking taking Tessa’s breathe away and melting heart. It’s a Cinderella story with its own very handsome Prince Charming, Sebastian Stone. Yachts, ball gowns, and the rich and famous. There’s a love scene involving “crown jewels” you absolutely will not want to miss!

Time and time again, I was drawn in and so appreciated Jennifer’s descriptive writing, the humour she interjected and the way the tables were turned on this worldly Prince. It’s an extremely entertaining, sensitive and seductive love story.

From Jennifer’s website:

”I enjoyed creating the Mediterranean nation of Caspia which is now so vivid in my mind. I could book a flight there. I think first I’ll go for a gondola ride along the quays lined with designer shops, and then take a dip in the warm waters of the ancient harbor. Or should I ride up into the mountains that look down to the ocean glittering in the late afternoon sun? Decisions, decisions, I do enjoy having an active imagination.”

Review:
Blown away is the only way to describe my feelings about this book. If you love passion, intrigue, spitfire heroines, and family secrets then you will love Seduced for the Inheritance.
Anna Marcus has returned to her deceased mother’s home to pack up her personal belongings. It has been sometime since she had been home as she finished college, married, divorced and bankrupt due to her cheating husband. It’s painful for Anna….the loss of her mother, being broke and to return to the place where she will probably see the man she loved so many years ago, Naldo DeLeon.
Of course, she runs into him and learns that his father passed away a few weeks after her mother. The reader will learn the DeLeon’s for generations owned acres of orange groves, many holdings, an estate and were among Florida’s most respected of high society. Renaldo DeLeon is not only powerful, rich and handsome he is stubborn, set in tradition and does not want his family secrets exposed at any price. He wants everything and is willing to do whatever it takes to get it all!

At the reading of the DeLeon will, Anna learns she is now the owner of her mother’s cottage, surrounding land, heirloom jewelry and more. She receives a shock upon learning her mother and Robert DeLeon were involved and in love for years. Letty Marcus had been the family cook at the DeLeon estate. She also learns because of her mother’s recipes the DeLeon’s retail business has increased many times over. Of course, the jewelry and recipe book and the fact they have helped to improve the family fortune are not mentioned to Anna. Now add to the mix Naldo’s sister who wants some of the estate, a fire, and to top it off a scandal! This book is so hot sparks fly off the page.
There is a lot of bitterness in the storyline…..Naldo knows the true reason behind his mother’s death, and is suffering greatly at the loss of his father and has emotional issues with his sister. The DeLeon family name he would live and would die for instead of a family scandal. Now on his doorstep is the spirited Anna who is angry to learn about the affair. Anna is angry that her mother was good enough to sleep with but not to marry so she has decided to fight the DeLeon's and stay.
This was such a wonderful love story, so powerful and passionate. Just like the DeLeon orange trees in the groves “strong…..it’s was in their nature to heal and recover.” As Anna learned, “as heirs to a legacy of passion…..for the land and for each other….that nothing could destroy”. Bravo Jennifer Lewis on this incredible story!

Title: The Boss's Demand
Author: Jennifer Lewis
Line: Silhouette Desire
Release month North America/ & UK: July 2007
The S-Factor: Simmering
Back-Blurb:
“If you’re having my child, you will marry me”.
Powerful oil tycoon Elan Al Mansur never wanted Sara Daly as his new assistant. Her lush curves and alluring scent would only prove a distraction to what mattered most to him: business. But one night in the desert Elan gave in to his desires, seducing the woman he'd sworn never to touch.Four months later, his secretary revealed she was carrying his baby. Suddenly the stern businessman discovered he didn't want Sara gone at all. But would she agree to her boss's demand that she become his wife?
Review:

If you like reading “boardroom” stories with happy endings then this is the book for you. The Boss's Demand is a simmering and at times, painful love story which will take you on a steamy and sensual journey.
The book begins on a sour note as Elan Al Mansur is telling his Human Resource Director that she must fire his newly hired personal assistant. And why one might ask? Because she is young, attractive and he only wants an older PA because the young women he has employed in the past are after him and his millions.

Sara Daly has a lot to prove to herself and her family. She has taken the responsibility to pay off the hospital debt her mother’s illness strapped her family with and she’s determined to become a success in the oil industry. She has worked long a hard to get her degree in business and geology and no stubborn boss is going to take that away from her let alone fire her on her first day of the job.

You will witness this stubborn woman proving herself not only to her boss, but to the entire company. However, she is strongly attracted to Elan and one evening she succumbs to his charm and charisma and becomes intimate with him. They both realize the mistake and try to get back to business on a professional level. Sara pushes herself to “painful” lengths to prove she is worthy and a professional in the industry.

What Sara is not aware of in the beginning is that Elan needs no one due to his past life with his family. At a young age he is cruelly removed from his family by a heartless and cruel father. What Elan does not like are his feelings of protectiveness and lust for Sara.
Jennifer's characters are both strong in similar yet different ways. The Boss’s Demand was a wonderful debut book and a very enjoyable read and yet sad at times as Elan was an extremely lonely man. It took Sara’s gentleness to heal him because she saw the man himself, not the man of wealth and power.
