Bedded By A Bad Boy by Heidi Rice

Title: Bedded By A Bad Boy

Author: Heidi Rice

Line: Romance

Release month: April 2007

The S-Factor: Simmering / Sweet

Back-Blurb:

A tough loner - with a past...

Monroe Latimer is a drop-dead gorgeous Harley-riding bad boy who doesn't do commitment. No Way. No How.

One look at Monroe and feisty English girl Jessie Connor knows he's about as Mr Wrong as a guy can get, but there's one great big problem. He's sexy as hell, he fires her blood like no other man ever has, and his killer blue gaze is focused right on her. His look says he'll bed her - but never wed her...

Is Jessie the one who can tame the untameable?

Review:

I really should know better than to judge a book by its blurb or title! When I got hold of the book, I expected a light, fun read but Heidi Rice surprised me with a debut novel that far exceeded my expectations. The first few pages had me laughing out loud and when the hero read a letter from his sister-in-law and brother whom he hasn't seen in 20 years, that was it. I was emotionally sucked in!

Monroe Latimer is not your typical rich, strutting hero but a wounded one who's doing his best to overcome the worst that life has thrown at him. As for the heroine, you just cannot help but love the feisty and sweet Jessie Connor. I don't ask a lot of the books I read but that they make me feel and this one definitely did. There were unexpected twists to the story and enjoyable secondary characters too.

Overall a wonderful read and an excellent debut effort.

Release month: April 2007

The S-Factor: Simmering

Back-Blurb:

A mother for his daughter

Ever since Joel Mortimer lost his wife, he’s thrown himself into his work and been a dedicated single father to his daughter Beth. Joel wrongly blames himself for the loss of Beth’s mother and their unborn child. He has vowed never to have more children, or put his little girl through any more trauma – until he meets his new colleague, SHO Lisa Richardson.

Lisa isn’t looking for commitment either, but she can’t resist Joel. One night they give in to temptation. Then Lisa discovers she’s pregnant…

Review:

I loved this story. It is packed with plenty of emotion, romance and excitement from the first paragraph. The moment Joel entered the scene I was hooked. He is one sexy and gorgeous hero, with major internal conflicts to deal with. This guy has suffered major trauma, and the pain continues to live on inside him. Sharing his pain was heartbreaking.

Kate Hardy has created a cast of wonderful characters, and little Beth, Joel’s daughter would melt the coldest of hearts. There is plenty of excitement created by the medical scenarios, and the love and heartfelt emotion between Lisa and Joel is palpable. Mills & Boon promise ‘…Pulse-racing romance – heart-racing medical drama’, and this book delivers all this and more!

The S-Factor: Simmering
Back-Blurb:

So when Fabius Aro offers her a wager - if she doesn't plead for his kisses in the next seven days, then she will have her independence - Lydia thinks it will be easily won.

But Aro is a dangerously attractive man. And Lydia is finding his lips more and more tempting...

Review:

Sold and Seduced is the third Mills and Boon Historical Romance by up and coming romance author Michelle Styles and it’s a wonderfully sensuous romantic tale featuring an intrepid heroine, a gorgeous hero and plenty of twists and turns to keep you entranced from beginning to end!

When senator’s daughter Lydia Veratia needed money to pay for her father’s medical bills and his medicines, she made the mistake of selling off a cargo of wine already earmarked for Fabius Aro, whom all of Rome has nicknamed the Sea Wolf – and now the Sea Wolf is knocking on her door demanding his wine.

With no cargo or money available, Lydia begs Aro not to take revenge upon her family or besmirch her father’s good name. But Aro soon comes up with a rightful punishment for Lydia – she will be his wife!

With no other option open to her, Lydia accedes to his request thinking that theirs will be a marriage in name only. But Aro has got other plans and has already begun to plot his wife’s seduction.

Will Lydia be impervious to the Sea Wolf’s charms? Or will she succumb to his sensual kisses?

Michelle Styles brings to life Ancient Rome by deftly evoking the sights, the sounds, the scents and the language of the Romans in this page-turning historical romance which I just couldn’t put down.

The talented Ms. Styles blends passion, drama, suspense and adventure in this wonderful story which I just didn’t want to end.

Rescued: Mother-To-Be by Trish Wylie

Title: Rescued: Mother-To-Be

Author: Trish Wylie

Line: Romance

Release month : April 2007

The S-Factor: Simmering & Sweet

Back-Blurb:

Feeling her baby's first kick was supposed to be a joyous moment for Colleen McKenna. When life dealt her the hardest blow, Colleen knew that she would have to summon up all her courage to cope with her pregnancy alone.

Now gorgeous millionaire Eamonn's kindness is testing her fierce independence. And having Eamonn Murphy's hand on her bump, feeling each tiny kick with her, makes every moment more special than the last….
Review:

Trish Wylie, Irish author obviously has a love for her country and horses making this particular reader long to travel to Ireland. Throughout the entire story, I felt as if I were there with both of these wonderful characters who had grown up together on a stud farm, Inisfree. The way Ms. Wylie describes the setting and her two main characters Colleen and Eamonn, one cannot help be transported to the luscious emerald isle

However, more importantly, this book is about home and what it means or can mean to a person. Colleen never doubted her place in life or what she wanted to do…..she loved horses, Inisfree, and as a teenager loved Eamonn. Now she’s faced with a broken down stud farm, expecting a baby and alone.

Due to the passing of his father, Eamonn now owns half of Inisfree and must return to Ireland to face Colleen and his past. As a young man, he left Ireland, his heritage and made his way in the world. In America, he became very successful in the construction field. Now he is faced with a dilemma…..Inisfree, the lovely Colleen and her beautiful newborn daughter Evie. What he does not realize is that he will learn a very valuable lesson and that is what is important in life….family and home.

Rescued Mother-To-Be is intense, sensual and full of heart. I personally fell in love with Inisfree and Ireland. This is truly a love story with a happy ending!

From Trish Wylie's Website: “What in the name of everything resembling common sense is a single girl who has never had a baby doing writing a book based around a heavily pregnant heroine??? It has turned into a piece of work that I'm very happy to put my name to! Thanks to friends like Natasha Oakley, Donna Alward and my sister-in-law, who between them have eleven kids (!!!), I got all the information I needed (a tad too much at times frankly) to help me put my mind inside that of an eight months pregnant heroine. I wouldn't have had half a chance of writing it without their help!”

Sicilan Husband, Blackmailed Bride by Kate Walker

Title: Sicilian Husband, Blackmailed Bride

Author: Kate Walker

Line: Presents

Release month: USA - April 07

The S-Factor: Sizzling!

Back-Blurb:

Dark, proud and sinfully gorgeous, Guido Corsentino is determined to reclaim his wife! Outwardly, Amber is perfect and untouchable, but Guido knows the passionate woman inside. One kiss and he's certain she'll give him whatever he demands.

But Guido is also certain of something else: Amber ran away from him once—so she won't be given the opportunity to run again. He'll protect her from the consequences of her actions…in his bed!

Review:

Again, Kate Walker has written a spellbinding story, one that took this reader on such an emotional journey.

Like so many of us who have attended formal wedding’s and heard the clergy say “if anyone knows just cause why these two should not be joined…….”, this is exactly how this story begins and I believe where Ms. Walker got her particular idea for this story. Just think about it for a minute, how would you react if someone spoke out? Well, our handsome, sexy alpha Guido does just that and then some, taking everyone present at the wedding by surprise.

When Amber met Guido in Las Vegas, there was an immediate attraction, strong emotions, and longing. So when Guido realized he had to have her, there was only one choice and that was to ask her to marry him. Amber’s feelings for him were so strong that she immediately said yes and wanted to marry immediately; they did! However, their relationship was based on one of misunderstanding, lack of communication and secrets. When Amber realized she married him and did not know him she ran and with a man she later promised to marry. At this wedding, the story begins.

Guido arrives at the wedding just in time and forces Amber to leave her wedding, confront the groom, admit she is married to Guido and leaves for Sicily and his home. It is there, she finds out his secret…….he’s wealthy, they are married and will remain so and he has not been honest with her. It is here, they both examine themselves, their past, and present and where Amber realizes that she has loved him always, is vulnerable to him and loves him with desperation. And Guido? He believes Amber had never been strong enough to believe in him. He also realizes that he is the only person that has ever stood by her.

I actually felt like I was caught in the eye of a storm. While reading Guido and Amber’s story I was on edge, anticipating at every turn, the outcome, wishing and wanting them to resolve their differences and find love again.

The Sicilian Husband, Blackmailed Bride is the first book in the duo Corsentino’s brother’s series, with Vito’s story being next (The Sicilian's Red-Hot Revenge) . These Sicilian men are strong, hard working and love intensely. I cannot begin to tell you how much I loved this first book and I am looking forward to next

Did you know that the “seed” for this book was two fold……ideas from a friend she met at an RWA Conference and “What if?”.

“And then there was the ‘what if’ moment. For some time I had also had an opening scene in my head. A scene in which a wedding is taking place and that moment comes – you know the one – the one where the priest says, ‘If anyone here knows of any reason why these two people should not be joined together, let him speak now of forever hold his peace.’ I’ve been to lots of weddings and no one ever steps forward at that moment and says anything.” (Kate Walker’s Blog) To find out more, why not visit her

It Happened One Wedding by Ann Roth

Title: It Happened One Wedding
Author: Ann Roth

Line: Harlequin American

Release month: April 2007

The S-Factor: Sweet
Back-Blurb:

When Cammie Yarnell agrees to do a wedding at the Oceanside Bed and Breakfast, she knows the tough part will be keeping a smile on her face. Not too long ago she had planned a walk down the aisle at the sumptuous B and B herself—and called it off. Worse, she is working this event with Curt Blanco, the photographer who knew all about her fiancĂ© is cheating and kept it secret, betraying her trust as a friend.
Yet her anger starts to fade once the showers and dinner parties bring her closer to the man. Now Curt's misguided belief that he is bad for her is standing in the way of Cammie's trip to the altar—with him.
Review:

Ann Roth has penned a warm and charming read in It Happened One Wedding. It made this reader believe again, in happy endings and promise to come.

For some reason when a bride and groom and their families become involved in the planning process of an event that should bring joy and happiness, the wedding plans can sometimes turn into a not so pleasant process. Kelly is planning her wedding with the help of her friend and wedding planner Cammie. Will she be able to keep peace between Cammie and her overbearing father who has ideas of his own? Throw into the mix, Curt, the wedding photographer who is at odds with his former friend the wedding planner! Will this wedding take place “peacefully” in six weeks time?

Cammie Yarnell came from a family who loved and supported her. The previous year she had been engaged to Todd who betrayed her at his bachelor party. She was hurt and never forgave her friend Curt who had introduced them. She blamed Curt for not telling her the sort of man she was marrying.

Curt Blanco at one time, considered Cammie his friend. In fact, she was his first kiss. He was responsible for introducing Cammie to Todd but did not realize what a “player” Todd was or that he would hurt Cammie. He did not believe in love or happy ever after. Why? Because all of his life he had watched his father move from woman to woman and never respecting his mother. His brother’s is also suffered from “failed” relationships so for Curt, he believed he would never travel down the path to matrimony.

I so enjoyed reading this story and watching the interaction between these two very special people Curt and Cammie. It was heart-warming to see them “mend fences”, fighting their attraction for each other and finding love. This was such a romantic story and one I will long remember thanks to this author. It was a book I read from cover to cover and could not put it down once I began Cammie and Curt’s journey in a renewed friendship and finding love.
