Annie Burrows’ debut historical novel for Harlequin Mills & Boon is a lusty and enthralling tale of love and life in Regency England. The hero of His Cinderella Bride is a wealthy aristocrat on the look-out for a wife – and, in shades of Jane Eyre, he meets her in a country lane in inclement weather, although I don’t remember a scene where Jane fell into a ditch full of muddy water!

After this inauspicious opening, we meet the book’s heroine, Hester, a similarly wealthy woman who hides under the disguise of a poor servant. Soon enough Annie Burrows transports us into a world of mistaken identities, evil, would-be rapists, illegitimate gypsy children, carriage rides, tavern brawls and London society. It’s all utterly charming and engaging, and the author’s conjuring up of an early 19^th century atmosphere is very well done.

The book’s strength lies in the characterisation of the hero and heroine. Annie Burrows wisely keeps the focus on these two characters throughout and there’s never any unnecessary diversion to take away from the central romance plot. The dialogue is rich and full of passion and the romantic scenes are understated and heart-warming, everything you could wish from a category romance.

His Cinderella Bride is a brilliant piece of writing and a story I enjoyed and identified with from beginning to end. Annie Burrows is an accomplished writer and I look forward to seeing more of her work on the strength of this book.

But something happened during the time he spent away. Something that Nick doesn’t know about and Adele can’t bring herself to tell him. It will take more than Nick’s little boy charm to break through Adele’s proud barriers and regain her trust.

Break Up to Make Up is a fast paced, emotion packed read, filled with tension, longing and humour. I especially liked the big hairy spider, the descriptions of Super Adele (the heroine’s alter ego) and a bossy satellite navigation system with an attitude to rival Adele’s.

Harlequin Romance at its best. This book belongs on your must-read list.

Francesca is a warm, loveable heroine, and just what Giovanni needs. His large Italian family fall in love with Fran from the moment they meet her, and Fran reciprocates the feelings.

Kate Hardy delivers everything her faithful readers have come to expect - a well researched story, a very sexy hero who is deserving of the lovely heroine, and secondary characters who don't take over the story yet are integral to the plot.

This is a gorgeous story that touches the reader on all levels - it's humorous, romantic, and emotional. A delicious read on all counts.

This is Kate's 50th book and oh what a book! It's a very powerful and passionate love story with another of Kate's "hot" Italian men and this time it's Vito!

And when he's angry, well watch out!As you learned in Sicilian Husband, Blackmailed Bride, Guido has a brother Vito and they are in business together. For years they worked non-stop and promised each other on their 30th birthday they would take a year off and this is Vito's year. As he comes from a shipbuilding family, his passion is carving; so he rents a flat near the shore in England. In this same book, you also learn that at a wedding a woman faints and of course this is one introduction in meeting Emily.

On one very particular day Vito is out walking and sees a beautiful Englishwoman on the beach and is immediately captivated by her and while watching her from afar, he realizes she is in danger of drowning in the ocean and he comes to her rescue. Their attraction is immediate and Vito insists that Emily accompany him back to his flat to get warmed up and out of her wet clothes. Vito is shocked and reacts quickly, flying to England and to Emily.

Vito and Emily's reuniting was very painful for me to read. It so depicts how miscommunication or lack of it can destroy a relationship. Honesty finally prevails, a lesson we can all learn and their passion, longing and yearning will take your breath away.

Congratulations to Kate Walker on this 50th book. However, I would personally like to say, thank you to Kate for the wonderful hours of reading you have personally provided this reader and please keep those books coming! Perhaps we can find another Corsentino sibling out there so we can see how Vito and Guido are doing?

Review:

I really should know better than to judge a book by its blurb or title! When I got hold of the book, I expected a light, fun read but Heidi Rice surprised me with a debut novel that far exceeded my expectations. The first few pages had me laughing out loud and when the hero read a letter from his sister-in-law and brother whom he hasn't seen in 20 years, that was it. I was emotionally sucked in!

Monroe Latimer is not your typical rich, strutting hero but a wounded one who's doing his best to overcome the worst that life has thrown at him. As for the heroine, you just cannot help but love the feisty and sweet Jessie Connor. I don't ask a lot of the books I read but that they make me feel and this one definitely did. There were unexpected twists to the story and enjoyable secondary characters too.

Overall a wonderful read and an excellent debut effort.

As soon as I read Julie Cohen's note to readers I knew I was going to enjoy this read.

Jay/Jonny is a fantastic hero - and so sexy that the word doesn't do him justice. From the moment his character appeared I didn't stand a chance, and neither did Jane - although her willpower was second to none, because she did try!

This book isn't for the faint-hearted - it is the most sizzling Modern Extra that I have read to date. But with Jay/Jonny as the hero how could it not be..?
