Breakfast at Giovanni's - Kate Hardy

Title: Breakfast at Giovanni's

Author: Kate Hardy

Line: Modern Extra

Release month: July 2007

The S-Factor: Sizzling

Back-Blurb:

Her new Italian boss is the sexiest man alive!

Having just been fired, Francesca has three immediate requirements: a coffee, an extremely calorific pastry and a new job. Stopping off at her favourite cafe, Giovanni's she manages to pick up all three!

Fran's new job working for darkly handsome Giovanni Mazetti is fantastic - except she soon discovers it comes with a tantalising caveat: pretending to be his adoring girlfriend! It's all to get Gio's interfering grandmother off his back, not to mention his parents, sisters, aunts... It's a tough life, but someone's got to kiss the oh-so-sexy Gio, and it might as well be her...if only it could be for real! But when the kisses start happening in private, Fran discovers that breakfast at Giovanni's has a whole new meaning...

Review:
This is Kate Hardy's 25th publication for Mills & Boon and Kate couldn't have celebrated better than with sexy Giovanni - he is HOT!

Francesca is a warm, loveable heroine, and just what Giovanni needs. His large Italian family fall in love with Fran from the moment they meet her, and Fran reciprocates the feelings.

Kate Hardy delivers everything her faithful readers have come to expect - a well researched story, a very sexy hero who is deserving of the lovely heroine, and secondary characters who don't take over the story yet are integral to the plot.

This is a gorgeous story that touches the reader on all levels - it's humorous, romantic, and emotional. A delicious read on all counts.

Bedded By A Bad Boy by Heidi Rice

Title: Bedded By A Bad Boy

Author: Heidi Rice

Line: Romance

Release month: April 2007

The S-Factor: Simmering / Sweet

Back-Blurb:

A tough loner - with a past...

Monroe Latimer is a drop-dead gorgeous Harley-riding bad boy who doesn't do commitment. No Way. No How.

One look at Monroe and feisty English girl Jessie Connor knows he's about as Mr Wrong as a guy can get, but there's one great big problem. He's sexy as hell, he fires her blood like no other man ever has, and his killer blue gaze is focused right on her. His look says he'll bed her - but never wed her...

Is Jessie the one who can tame the untameable?

Review:

I really should know better than to judge a book by its blurb or title! When I got hold of the book, I expected a light, fun read but Heidi Rice surprised me with a debut novel that far exceeded my expectations. The first few pages had me laughing out loud and when the hero read a letter from his sister-in-law and brother whom he hasn't seen in 20 years, that was it. I was emotionally sucked in!

Monroe Latimer is not your typical rich, strutting hero but a wounded one who's doing his best to overcome the worst that life has thrown at him. As for the heroine, you just cannot help but love the feisty and sweet Jessie Connor. I don't ask a lot of the books I read but that they make me feel and this one definitely did. There were unexpected twists to the story and enjoyable secondary characters too.

Overall a wonderful read and an excellent debut effort.

All Work and No Play - Julie Cohen

Title: All Work and No Play

Author: Julie Cohen

Line: Modern Extra

Release month: June 2007

The S-Factor: Sizzling!!!

Back-Blurb:

She wasn't the kind of girl that gorgeous men flirted with. She was plain Jane Miller - great at her job, organised, efficient, sensible. Except that every time she met Jay's deep blue eyes, she knew he wanted her. And she wanted him - the guy was seriously sexy! Perhaps for a change it was time to let go and have the night of her life! After all, all work and no play makes Jane a very dull girl...

Review:

Oh my, where do I start?!! This is one seriously HOT book and should come with a warning!!!!

As soon as I read Julie Cohen's note to readers I knew
I was going to enjoy this read.

Jay/Jonny is a fantastic hero - and so sexy that the word doesn't do him justice. From the moment his character appeared I didn't stand a chance, and neither did Jane - although her willpower was second to none, because she did try!

This book isn't for the faint-hearted - it is the most sizzling Modern Extra that I have read to date. But with Jay/Jonny as the hero how could it not be..?

The Sheikh's Ransomed Bride by Annie West

Title: The Sheikh's Ransomed Bride

Author: Annie West

Line: Modern/Sexy/Presents

Release month: UK - Apr 07/ Aus May 07/ USA - Jul 07

The S-Factor: Sizzling!

Back-Blurb:

Kidnapped by rebels, Belle Winters discovers her rescuer is actually Rafiq al Akhtar, Sovereign Prince of the desert kingdom of Q’aroum. Whisked away to his exotic palace, she is astounded to learn that Rafiq himself paid the ransom to save her life – and that he expects her to show her gratitude…by marrying him!
Rafiq intends for Belle to carry out her royal duties – both in public and in private. And it isn’t long before she succumbs to the sultry heat of the desert and to Rafiq’s seduction. No longer his unwilling wife, Belle has become the Sheikh’s very willing lover…
Review:

From the very beginning, I was captivated, intrigued and on edge as this story begins with a kidnapping, a ferocious storm and two very captivating characters Rafiq (ruler and monarch) and Belle, a marine archaeologist who along with her co-worker was kidnapped and held for ransom. Immediately the stage is set as Belle and Rafiq are thrown together, he her protector and Belle with everything she’s been through, her strength and courage shows throughout in this desert tale.

Belle’s homeland was Australia; she and her sister were for the most part, raised by her mother. Belle is strong, beautiful, hard working and proud. She has come to Q’aroum to explore and excavate a sunken first century trading ship. She and her co-worker are kidnapped by Rafiq’s cousin and the ransom demanded is the “Peacock’s Eye” not only very valuable but of importance to the people of Q’aroim. For generations it has been the gift of the Sheikh to his bride and Rafiq has given it up in order to save Belle and her co-worker!

Rafiq, is like no other sheikh or monarch…….his character reminds me of something out of “The Arabian Nights”. He’s handsome, intelligent, fearsome and very proud and he wants Belle……he wants her for his bride! Sparks fly off of these two characters as they both fight their attraction to each other and along the way find their way into a romance you won’t forget. A tale of East and West, two such different cultures and people who find a bond, mutual respect and love!
This is Annie West’s first "sheikh" book and I personally feel was exceptional, full of intrigue, chemistry and a wonderful romance set on a desert isle.

Review:

Kate Hardy’s fourth novel for the Modern Romance Extra line is absolutely spellbinding! Sexy, sassy and absolutely riveting, In The Gardener’s Bed, is another keeper by this much-loved author.
